Daddy is overextended. I’m excited to share what I’ve been working on with all of you soon (donating plasma, reimagining a Dance of the Seven Veils for gentlemen viewers down by the docks, being told by gentleman viewers that my dance is “self-indulgent” and “flabby, in more ways than one,” explaining to gentlemen viewers that actually, in many cultures a full figure is a sign of wealth, donating plasma at a different plasma center using a fake ID, etc).

This is to say: a short one this week. But more soon, I promise.

Someone needs to write a piece about Stephen Miller’s time at Santa Monica High School. It’s Joseph Goebbels getting “as if”-ed by Cher and Dion from Clueless. Like . . . what happened?

For my precious new subscribers: Landed cost (the final cost you pay) = the hammer price (the highest bid) + the premium (a set percentage added to the hammer price that the auction house takes) + shipping (you’re always on the hook for this) + sales tax. To the listings!

  1. Pauline Bonaparte as Venus Victrix

A French Carved Marble Figure of Pauline Bonaparte as Venus Victrix

Smaller than I want it to be (you know I like life-size) but fun. Venus Vixtrix—didn’t she used to DJ with Telfar at Happy Endings (if you get this joke, I guarantee you started experiencing joint pain in the last 18 months and you are contemplating sobriety).

  1. Fred Gutzeit Neon Line and Chain Link Work Gloves

Fred Gutzeit (b. 1940) Neon Line & Chine Link Wo

Gutzeit (American, 1940-2022) worked on the LES for 40 years. This is interesting to me. Also do check out this auction, it’s all from the Hechinger collection of art related to tools. Very weird and cool way to approach collecting.
